Sokoto secondary school girl to get N2,000 monthly allowance.
A member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Sani Yakubu, has introduced a bursary scheme for secondary school girls in his constituency.
Yakubu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Sokoto that the gesture was to boost girl-child education in the area, which currently was very dismal.
The lawmaker said under the scheme, the girls would be provided with uniforms and exercise books each school term, as well as a N2,000 monthly allowance.
“The figure of girls from the area who were enrolled in schools and completed same is too disturbing,” he said.
