El-Rufai resumes demolition of houses in Kaduna

 

The Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) yesterday demolished several houses in the new Millennium City layout in the state capital.  The exercise which led to protests by youths in the area was amid heavy security. Soldiers and policemen who came in seven Hilux vehicles shot intermittently into the air to scare the youths away as bulldozers rammed into the structures.
The aggrieved youths then vented their anger on journalists who went to cover the exercise. They linked the journalists to KASUPDA and the security personnel.

A source in KASUPDA told our reporter that the houses were demolished for encroaching into the Millennium City layout.
