Court sacks Sokoto APC federal lawmaker, orders rerun

The Court of Appeal, Sokoto Division, on Tuesday ordered a fresh election in the Sokoto North/Sokoto South Federal Constituency of Sokoto State.

Justice Frederick Oho, in his judgment, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct a rerun election within ninety days.

Oho said the appeal case filed by Abubakar Abdullahi, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the 2019 Federal House of Representatives election has succeeded.

Abdullahi had earlier challenged the election of the incumbent member, Honorable Bala Hassan, of the All Progressive Congress and the tribunal but Abdullahi appealed the decision.

He argued that the election was marred by irregularities and sought redress at the courts.

A cost of N100, 000 was awarded in favour of the appellant.
