Dankwambo who, on Monday, returned to the state after a 42-day vacation abroad took to the social media shortly after he received a tumultuous reception from the people of the state.
While reacting to the commendations from the orgnised labour on the ability of his administration to pay the salary of workers promptly in spite of the prevailing cash crunch, Dankwambo on his Facebook page, said there is no need for the commendation since government is only doing the job it was voted to do.
Dankwambo who arrived the Lawanti International Airport around 2.30 pm onboard a Azman flight, was received by top government functionaries, politicians, labour leaders, supporters and well wishers, led by the state deputy governor, Charles Iliya.
Addressing a large crowd of supporters at the Government House, the governor expressed gratitude for the turnout of people to receive him, promising to continue to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.
He however urged the people of the state to earnestly pray for the health of President Muhammadu Buhari, “so that he can come back to continue with the good work he is doing for our country.”
Comrade Haruna Kamara, state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, commended the governor for promptly addressing the welfare of workers in the state.
Kamara noted that Gombe State is among the few states in the country that does not owe a single kobo as salary arrears to civil servants, both at the state and local government levels.
He particularly commended the governor for graciously approving for the release of N2bn for the payment of gratuities for retirees.
Kamara further disclosed that employment is ongoing in the state as recently Dankwambo directed for the recruitment of 700 teachers.
