Minister Muhammad Musa Bello has issued a directive that boundaries of
public schools in the Federal Capital Territory be identified and
appropriately fenced through direct labour.
The minister gave the directive Tuesday after a briefing by the management team of the FCT Education Secretariat led by its Acting Secretary, Mrs. Naomi Biki.
A statement by the Special Assistant to the Minister on (Media), Abubakar Sani, said the minister instructed that site plans should be drawn and documented for proper identification of the boundaries of each school and to check encroachment.
Bello frowned at the manner some schools with many pupils are without perimeter fencing in spite of the security challenge the nation is facing.

He said direct labour be used to cut cost and to enable the FCT administration fence as many schools as possible this year.
The minister lamented the poor performance of students in the school certificate examinations in the territory and insisted that the situation must be reversed.
He charged the management to reorder priorities by paying more attention to the improvement of the quality of teaching and educational materials in order to raise the performance level of students in public examinations.
Bello assured that thenceforth, the FCT administration would give priority attention to the proper and regular feeding of students; ensure adequate water supply, cleanliness of the environment and security of schools in the territory.
