APC chieftain decries state of Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway

A member of the committee of Field Operation Directorate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) 2015 Presidential Campaign Council, Ibrahim Mohammed Jirgi has decried the state of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano express way.
Jirgi, who is sad over the worrisome state of the roads, said drastic measures need to be taken to rehabilitate them in order to stop constant accidents on the roads.
“The roads can be described as death traps. I have been driving on the roads for the past two years, but I observed last week that the situation is deteriorating; the roads are becoming unmotorable and death traps to commuters plying the roads,” he said.
He added: “the nature of the potholes and ditches are so devastating that once a vehicle mistakenly goes into them, it may lead to an accident or tyre burst; that is why I want to appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency begin the rehabilitation of these roads.”

“I can describe these roads as Buhari’s express road because he has been plying the road for the past 10 years and even when he started his campaign touring, he has been going to Zaria, Kano, Gusau, Sokoto, Kebbi and all the northern states on these roads that link the north to the south, west and east.
“He was also going to Abuja where he had meetings before he became president; so he’s used to plying the Abuja-Kaduna express road. Now he is the president, I am sure he is no longer driving on the roads; so he might not be aware of the deplorable state of the road.”
He however noted that armed robbers capitalize on the bad roads to rob motorists adding that “due to the bad state of the road, motorists who are running at ‘120 Km/hour’ speed must slow down to 20 to maneuver on the road thereby making them targets for armed robbery.”
Ibrahim, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tripple Cee Media Ltd also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola to inspect the road with a view to rehabilitating it.
