The Police in Jigawa State, yesterday, warned political parties against rigging and thuggery capable of triggering violence during the July 1 local government council polls in the state.
The Commissioner of
Police in the state, Rasheed Akintunde, handed the warning in Dutse,
the state capital, during an interactive session with all political
parties that would participate in the election.
He reminded
politicians that in every contest there must be a loser and a winner,
and that the Jigawa councils' election would not be an exception.
He said the wisdom
behind the meeting was that the police were confident of a free and fair
exercise, provided politicians would cooperate with them.
The police commissioner said anyone found with weapons would not be treated with kid gloves.
