Former Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, has said it was too early to pass judgement on President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration just six months into power.
Shekarau said the president’s efforts to fight corruption were good omen but the major problem was lack of proper welfare which could also be addressed if the president’s efforts begin with judiciary, followed by other sectors.
In an interview with journalists to mark his 60th birthday in Kano on Friday, Shekarau, who was minister for education during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, said: "I can only pass judgement on President Buhari if he addresses the challenges of working tools, welfare and pension of the security personnel. There are peculiar problems of security in this country but the most important now are to train and retrain the security personnel, pay their welfare and provide them with necessary working materials".
Shekarau said "my fear is that the security agencies are not satisfying Buhari's ego; but we are carefully watching the administration of Buhari".
