In what appears to be a harvest of road accidents in the country, the Nigerian Army has lost one of its top senior officers, Chief of Training and Operations (Army), Maj-Gen. Yusha’u Mahmood Abubakar, in a road accident in Borno State. This is coming barely 48 hours after the death of the Minister of State for Labour, James Ocholi in a ghastly motor accident and the Deputy Governor of Yobe state who barely escaped death in Kano state recently. The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman, who confirmed hisdeath, said that Abubakar and the Acting General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General MSA Aliyu, were involved in the road traffic accident along Maiduguri-Damaturu road yesterday.“Sadly, we lost Major General Yusha’u Abubakar as a result of the incident, while Brigadier General Aliyu sustained some injuries and is receiving treatment,”Usman said.
