Governor Kaduna State, El-Rufai Gives Teachers 32.5 Percent Salary Increment

The Kaduna State Government on Thursday said it had increased the salary of public school teachers by 32.5 per cent.

The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Ja’afaru Sani, said at a news conference in Kaduna that 27.5 per cent salary increase would be added to all teachers while five per cent would be incentive for teachers posted to rural areas.

Hijab Day : Muslim women advocate review of Dress Code in all professions

A Coalition of Nigerian Muslim Women on Thursday called for the review of Dress Code in all professions to allow female Muslims use Hijab in all professions without discrimination and intimidation.

Hajiya Mariya Sani, member of the coalition, made the call while briefing newsmen as part of activities of the coalition to mark the 2018 World Hijab Day in Abuja.

VP Osinbajo panel to meet Miyetti Allah

The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo panel on the farmers/herdsmen clashes raised a committee yesterday to address some specific aspects of the task of ending killings in the country.

Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari, who broke the news, said the sub-committee headed by Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi, will interface with the Miyetti Allah and the other stakeholders in the herders/farmers crises.

He said some of those involved in the clashes had taken it as a money-making venture, adding that criminals also hide under them  to perpetrate evil.

Governor Darius Ishaku: There is a threat to attack Taraba in 10 days

A governor cried out yesterday over a threat to attack his state within the next 10 days.

Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku, whose state has witnessed some violence in recent months, said he received a letter from suspected insurgents of an impending attack.

Ishaku, who spoke when he received Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman Uche Secondus, said: “We are on notice that in 10 days, we (Taraba) shall be attacked. I have alerted all security agencies. We are waiting.

Abdulaziz Yari distances self from killings in Zamfara

Reacting to the allegation of indifference levelled recently against him by Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa (Zamfara Central), Governor Abdulaziz Yari yesterday said government was making frantic efforts to handle the gruesome killings in the state.He described the remarks by the lawmaker implying that he was not doing much to contain the bloody attacks as reckless and scandalous.

According to his Special Adviser, Alhaji Salisu Isa, at a press conference in Kaduna, the governor maintained that he had no linkage with the Fulani herdsmen as portrayed by Marafa, who incidentally is of the same ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with the Zamfara’s chief executive.
