The inferno is said to have started in the early hours of Thursday, February 18, 2016, according to Vanguard.
An eyewitness, identified as Aminu Inuwa said that the affected shops were all located within the same building.
The incident has been confirmed by the director of the state fire service, Alhaji Balarabe Kabara who however failed to confirm the number of shops damaged.
“We cannot give you the number of shops affected but the fire had destroyed many shops,” Kabara said.
“We are yet to ascertain the actual number of shops destroyed as we are still battling to put out the inferno,” he added.

recorded a devastating fire outbreak in November 2014 during which
goods worth over N20 million were reportedly lost.
