Photos From Borno State Satellite Irrigation Farming Test

The Irrigation test farms installed by the Borno State Governor Hon Kashim Shettima keeps last year for the purpose of testing and improving crop varieties both cultivated and not normally cultivated in Borno State has already started yielding results and keeps breaking the jinx.
The Farms, were situated at the Njimtilo Town, outskirts of Maiduguri the Borno state capital and supervised by the ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Borno State. Many crops such as Onions, Irish Potatoes, Tomatoes, Pepper, Garlic and Carrots, were placed on test, and thankfully keeps giving more positive and encauraging results.

As for the Irish potatoes, the perpetual jinx of non ability to cultivate it or poor productivity in some cases, was broken last year. It's now cultivated enmass and the seedlings distributed to farmers, especially those along Alau and Jere Irrigation fields. More improved varieties of Onions, Carrot are now in abundance and already in the market, and more discoveries are expected in line soon.
At this rate, with the commitment of the state Governor towards the reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement of our dear people who are majority farmers with the provision of unprecedented number of agricultural machines and equipments coupled with the inproved varieties, Borno is apparently on its way for a great agricultural transformation and shall surely become the food basket of the nation insha Allah.
