The Magnanimous administration of his Excellency governor Kashim Shettima has reconstructed the Maiduguri Abattoir located in the heart of Gamboru Market (Kasuwan shanu) to modern standard.
Any standard abattoir is divided into two modules or services. The first module is the production modules such as the slaughter slab, Lairage, chiller, Triple room, meat Cutting and Processing units were largely expanded and equipped.
The other section of the facilities that was touched and renovated include, Service modules such as Water supply, Effluent Disposal, Solid wastes and Blood disposal units, including Hide and Skin processing unit.
Other areas that need expansion and expanded include Fencing the whole Abattoir, interlocking and roads network, expansion and renovation of storm water drainage and planting of Effluent trenches.
In congratulating the people of Borno for having a visionary and focus Governor, the former Registrar Veterinary Council of Nigeria Dr Marcus Avong Said that the're only 3 standard Abattoirs in the country, he told the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Abuja that the best facilities were located in Lagos, Borno and Nasarawa States, he equally called on government at all levels to set up a standard abattoir to minimize the dangers posed by Quacks to the public.
