The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned the office complex of the Headquarters of the recently established Special Operations Command in Bauchi. Other projects commissioned on 31 August 2017 include the official residence of the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Special Operations Command and residential accommodation for the principal staff officers of the new Command. The idea behind the projects is to enable the AOC and his principal officers quickly settle down to the task at hand without any administrative constraints.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, restated the commitment of the Federal Government to the welfare of personnel towards creating a conducive environment for them to discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
According to the CAS, who was represented by Air Vice Marshal Sadiq Kaita, the AOC SOC, “Only an Air Force with well trained personnel, equipment and motivation would be capable of fulfilling its assigned roles".
It would be recalled that the NAF recently established the Special Operations Command to enable the Service better address the challenges of asymmetric warfare, such as posed by the Boko Haram terrorists.
