APC clears Kebbi State LG poll


The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all the 21 chairmanship seats in the just-concluded Kebbi State local government elections.
The chairman of Kebbi State Independent National Electoral Commission (KESIEC), Alhaji Aliyu Mera, made the announcement while addressing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

Court sacks Sokoto APC federal lawmaker, orders rerun


The Court of Appeal, Sokoto Division, on Tuesday ordered a fresh election in the Sokoto North/Sokoto South Federal Constituency of Sokoto State.
Justice Frederick Oho, in his judgment, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct a rerun election within ninety days.

Driver crushes KAROTA official to death

A 27-year-old Kano Road Traffic Agency official, Tijjni Adamu, was on Tuesday crushed to death by a motorist, who was attempting to evade arrest.
The incident, according to an eyewitness, occurred on the Airport Road when the late Adamu was in the process of arresting the motorist for beating the traffic light.

18 Dead, Dozens Hospitalised as Yellow Fever Hits Katsina



The Executive Secretary of Katsina State Primary Health Development Agency, Dr Shamsuddeen Yahaya on Tuesday confirmed that 18 deaths had been recorded from an outbreak of a disease suspected to be yellow fever in the Matazu Local Government Area of the state.
He stated that laboratory tests carried out in Abuja and in Lagos on the disease had not indicated clearly that it was yellow fever.

Navy recovers 267 cows, 51 sheep, arrests five bandits in Kaduna




Troops of the Nigerian Navy School of Armament Technology, Kachia, in Kacjia Local Government Area of Kaduna State have arrested five bandits who are said to be rustlers too.
The formation paraded the suspects on Tuesday saying that 267 cows and 51 sheep were recovered from the bandits on Saturday, October 26.

FG to ASUU: No going back on IPPIS platform


The Federal Government has insisted on migration of payment of salaries of lecturers teaching at federal universities to the Integrated Payroll Personal System, IPPIS, despite the threat by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to embark on strike over the issue.
Speaking to reporters at the end of the meeting of National Economic Council on Tuesday, the Minister of Finance, Hajia Zainab Ahmed, said the decision to migrate payment of salaries of lecturers to IPPIS platform was  a presidential  directive binding on all Federal Government’s staff.

Niger Assembly confirms 20 commissioner nominees


The Niger House of Assembly has confirmed all 20 of Gov. Abubakar Bello’s commissioner nominees barely a week after it screened them.
The nominees were unanimously confirmed through a voice vote in plenary on Tuesday following a motion by the Majority Leader, Musa Nasko.

Kano establishes routine immunization coordination centres


The Kano State Government has established Routine Immunization Coordination Centres in the 44 local government areas of the state to ensure effective coverage of routine immunization in the state.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Alhaji Usman Bala-Mohammed disclosed this while briefing newsmen as part of activities to commemoration the 2019 World Polio Day in Kano on Thursday.

Bandits’ attack: 5 dead, 2 injured in Kaduna


The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said five persons died in recent bandits attack in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

Police nab criminals disguising with hijab


The Police in Niger have arrested five suspects for alleged kidnapping and armed robbery in Rafi and Mariga local government areas of the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Alhaji Usman Adamu, disclosed this in Minna on Thursday.
Usman said on Oct. 18, one Alhaji Ibrahim Garkuwa of Tashan Kare reported at Kagara Police Division that some hoodlums who were armed with machete, stick and dressed in female Hijab (Muslim females gown) and face mask, invaded his house at Tashan Kare.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello Recruits 2,510 Teachers To Boost Education In Niger State
