No LG under B/Haram control – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that Boko Haram insurgents are not in control of any local government at the moment.
Buhari was speaking at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday during a joint press conference with visiting German President Joachim Gauck.
Buhari said unlike in the past, the insurgents could neither carry out conventional attacks on military and police installations nor capture towns any more.
The president also stated that the sect had now resorted to using improvised explosive devices to cause “maximum casualties” on soft targets.

President Buhari assured that his administration would double its efforts towards rehabilitating the internally displaced persons (IDPs), especially the children noting that more than 60% of the 2million people in IDP camps are women and children.
Commending the G7 nations for their helping to train the military, Buhari specifically thanked Germany for helping to make the 2015 elections successful.
Speaking through an interpreter, the visiting German president announced $15 million support for the Multinational Joint Task Force prosecuting the war against insurgency.
Meanwhile on a visit to the Senate President Bukola Saraki yesterday, President Gauck yesterday said the Boko Haram insurgents cannot be defeated with military might alone.
He also said the federal government should foster good governance and ensure the prospect of a better future for all its citizens.
He said he was particularly delighted about the peaceful elections that brought about the change of guards in Nigeria.
Saraki called on the German Government and the European Union (EU) to assist Nigeria in eliminating terrorism from the sub-region as well as the resettlement and full integration of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the country.
