Why Nigerians still remember late Gen Murtala- Emir Sanusi

The emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi ll on Friday said late Head of State General Murtala Ramat Mohammed will continue to be remembered for a long time because he was unjustly killed
Sanusi stated this while delivering a Juma’at sermon at the‎ Murtala Mohammed Mosque, Kano as part of the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Murtala.

The Emir, who led thousands of worshippers in the prayer, said: “This is the beauty of living a good legacy behind. Forty years after the demise of Murtala, people remember him in their prayers. This is a sign of good leader.”

He said the people of Kano and indeed Nigerians will continue to remember the late Murtala Muhammed because of the contributions he offered to the country during his reign.

“Though his leadership was brief but he impacted on the lives of Nigerians and he will continue to be remembered,” the emir said.

He charged Nigerians especially leaders to emulate the late head of state in their leadership style, adding that “whoever does good will be rewarded with goodies.”
