Boko Haram plans to use beggers for attacks-Military

Borno residents have been alerted on a planned attack by Boko Haram terrorists using beggars and other strategies. Col. Mustapha Anka, the Media Coordinator of the Theater Command of Operation Lafiya Dole of the Nigerian Army on Friday made this known in a statement in Maiduguri.

Uneasy Calm In Taraba As Appeal Court Uphold Ishaku's Election As Governor


There has been an uneasy calm in Taraba State, especially the state capital, Jalingo, following the ruling of the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Thursday which declared that Governor Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was validly elected in the April governorship elections in Taraba.

The appellate court set aside the November 7 judgment of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal for the state which had declared Sen. Aisha Alhassan of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the election.

The court of appeal panel of five justices, presided over by Justice Abdul Aboki, held that the decision of the tribunal was a nullity.

Kaduna/Katsina Customs Generates N5bn



The Kaduna/Katsina command of the Nigerian Customs Service has generated N4.9 billion from January to November this year.

Customs Area Comptroller, Gidado Bala Muhammad who disclosed this while addressing newsmen said the figure was a little above the sum of N4.5 Billion realised by the command last year.

He said the command also seized goods that included rice, cooking oil, with duty paid value worth N135 million assuring that the war on seizure of contraband good would be intensified.

Al-Makura swears in three special advisers

NASARAWA State Governor Umaru Al-Makura has sworn in three Special Advisers at an expanded State Executive Council meeting in Lafia.

Al-Makura said the exercise was to fulfill the constitutional requirements that allowed the governor to appoint a certain number of special advisers.

He said the appointment of the advisers: Alhaji Hamza Elayo, Mallam Mohammed Aliyu and Mallam Sani Suleiman; was based on their capacity to offer essential services for the development of the state.

Former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa yesterday said President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war is good for the country.
Bafarawa and his son are standing trial before an Abuja court over billions of money they allegedly received from the office of former National security Adviser Sambo Dasuki.
He spoke to journalists in Sokoto yesterday after he was granted bail by the court on Tuesday.

Arms deal: Ex-PDP chairman’s trial begins Tuesday

A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed January 5, 2016 for the trial of former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Haliru Mohammed Bello and his son, Abba.
The date was fixed due to an undisclosed illness which the former PDP chairman is being treated for in a hospital in Abuja.
Mohammed and his son are standing trial alongside BAM projects and Properties Ltd on a four count criminal charge for allegedly collecting N600 million from the former
