State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has disclosed that reconciliation is
ongoing between him and his predecessor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso
during an interview with State House correspondents yesterday, shortly
after visiting President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential
Villa in Abuja. He described the rift as an in-house problem, a
situation which, according to him, is now under control.
Ganduje and Kwankwaso had, for some time now, been locked in a fierce battle for supremacy. The former had recently vowed to expose the latter’s alleged shady deals in office. Recently while inspecting road project at Dakata-Bella, Nassarawa Local Government Area of the state, Ganduje was reported to have said: “Some of the landmark achievements purportedly executed by Kwankwaso were characterised by sharp practices, and we would soon expose him.”

The governor further disclosed that the state was reforming its foreign scholarship scheme to make it more realistic. He said: “It’s a system we’ve to evaluate because right now, we’ve a liability of over N2.6bn. What we’ve discovered is that some of the courses being undertaken abroad are not necessary because such courses exist here in Nigeria with much lower cost. We’re reforming the whole system so that we’d make it more realistic. It’s one thing to send students abroad, it’s another thing to get optimum benefit.”
Ganduje said he was at Aso Rock Villa to brief President Buhari on the security situation in his state, particularly cattle-rustling and kidnapping which, according to him, are under control. “We talked about the amnesty package extended to those interested, and the empowerment programme for them, and we’re helping the police arrest the situation.”
