Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi has urged the federal
and state governments as well as the well-to-do to assist the needy in
view of the prevailing economic difficulties.
He made the call in Bauchi yesterday as Muslims in the state joined
their counterparts in other parts of the world to celebrate this year’s
Eid-El-Maulud to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The cleric urged government to introduce policies that would rejuvenate the economy and improve the wellbeing of Nigerians.
Elsewhere, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Chief, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, called on Muslims to use the Maulud period to offer special prayers for the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.
And the Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, and Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki all tasked Nigerians, irrespective of religious, political or ethnic differences to intensify prayers for the nation.
In Lagos, the President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai, urged Nigerians especially members of the society not to relent in praying for Nigeria to overcome recession.
