Sokoto state Zakkat commission disburses N8m to patients that could not afford medicals bills

The Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission has disbursed the sum of over N8million to various hospitals and medicine stores as support to patients that could not afford their services.
Speaking, the chairman of the Commission, Malam Lawal Maidoki said the money was meant only for the payment of medical bills and medicines for those patients.
He warned that those who have the means of footing up their bills should not benefit from it.
“There are some people who can afford these services but prefer to meet these committees for support which is very unfair and immoral,” he said

He advised members of the committees to fear God in discharging their responsibilities.
Maidoki also advised wealthy individuals to imbibe the culture of assisting their needy neighbours, particularly the sick ones.
The Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital and Psychiatric hospital, Kware received N2 million each while the Orthopaedics Hospital, Wamakko and others received N500,000 each.
