Zamfara spent N13 billion on security in 6 years – Governor Abdulaziz Yari

Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara has said the state spent N13 billion on security in the past six years, adding that many lives and property were destroyed in hostilities that bedeviled the state. He said the state has not recorded any attack in the past five months, following the peace deal reached between the armed bandits and the vigilantes.
Yari, who spoke during the distribution of relief materials to victims of the armed bandits attacks in the state by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, said the issue of security in the state was politicised during the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
In her address the Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Hajiya Saadiya Umar Farouk, said the ultimate goal of her commission was to ensure that encampment is brought to an end.
The relief material, including household and food items and building materials worth millions of Naira were distributed to the victims.“We will therefore strive to see that displaced persons are either returned home or resettled andactively integrated into their communities,” she added.
