Borno state government procured medical equipments worth over N1bn to reposition health sector
The Governor gave the directive when he inspected the last consignment of medical equipment procured by the State Government at the Medical Store Maiduguri.
The Borno State Government procured medical equipments worth over N1bn to reposition the health sector to meet the healthcare needs of the populace in addition to ongoing rehabilitation of hospitals and construction of new ones.
Health Commissioner, Dr Haruna Mshelia said over 96% of equipment have been delivered in the last couple of months, as the Chief Medical Director, Hospitals Management Board, Dr Salihu Kayabura also informed the Governor that the last consignment of the Medical equipment delivered include; surgical items, theatre gowns and bedsheets enough to go round all the hospitals in the State.
Governor Kashim Shettima while commending the Ministry and the Board said they should work the talk to achieve that objectives transforming the health sector, and the rehabilitated and newly constructed hospitals; Shani, Kwaya Kusar, Damasak, Konduga, Maryam Abatcha Hospital, Maimusari should be fully equipped with basic equipment and facilities, reiterating the fact that no hospital should take off without basic equipment and facilities, and the delivery of the equipments to hospitals should not be delayed.
