NAFDAC burst fake fertiliser syndicate in Zamfara

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered a syndicate in Zamfara involved in the production of adulterated fertiliser.
Briefing journalist on Tuesday in Gusau, NAFDAC Coordinator in the state, Suleman Dabo said its officials discovered some people mixing coloured clay with Notre Granule urea and selling it as fertiliser to farmers.
Dabo said that the fake fertiliser was found being produced behind some shops at Kantin Daji area in Gusau.
He said the officials of the agency succeeded in seizing 46 bags of the fake fertiliser, a generator and sealing machine.
The coordinator said that the agency had sought the assistance of other security agencies to apprehend the members of the syndicate who fled when they sighted its officials.
Dabo decried the attitude of some members of the public who fail to give information to security agencies on such illegal activities.
He said that the activities of the syndicate were sabotage of government policy to boost agriculture and would have dire consequences on the socioeconomic development of the state.
The NAFDAC coordinator expressed satisfaction with the support and cooperation of other security agencies in the state in the fight against production and sale of unwholesome food products and drugs.
He appealed to the general public to support the agency with the provision of useful information that could assist it effectively discharge its duties.(NAN)
