Nationwide Advocacy on Quality Control and Standardization of Agric Commodities kicks off in Kano for North West.

The Governor of Kano State His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR flagged off, the nationwide advocacy on agricultural quality control and standardization - Zero Reject Initiative.
In his remarks, Governor Ganduje expressed his delight for the selection of Kano for the flagging off of the initiative, and welcomed all stakeholders to this 2 day event. He added that despite the mass production in the agricultural sector as championed by the federal governments diversification effort, farmers are still finding it difficult to add value to their commodities. He said that the consititution of this initiative is aimed at addressing that, for both local consumption and for export.

Kano has been selected to be the focal state for the launching of this initiative, which is aimed at improving agricultural produce to the standards for export because agricultural products have been rejected several times by other countries due to so many factors including lack of traceability of farm produce and contamination among others.
The Hon Minister for Agriculture Chief Audu Ogbe who was represented by the Federal Director of Agriculture Dr Aminu Babandi in his remarks said that selection of Kano to flag off this initiative is because of the giant strides recorded in Agriculture in the state, which will be conducted in all the other regions in the country.
