A policeman was killed while 18 people were injured when a suicide bomber detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on his body at the entrance of the Borno State Government Secretariat in Maiduguri, the Nigerian Army said yesterday.Army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman said as policemen were intercepting the attacker, he detonated the device and instantly killed himself, a policeman and critically injured another policeman who stopped him from getting into thecomplex. He added that troops had cordoned off the area and evacuated all workers from the Secretariat and reinforced security.
Meanwhile, According toterrormonitor.org, the Islamic State IS has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack at the Borno state government secretariat in Maiduguri earlier today. Two police officers lost their lives in the incident. The group also releasedphoto of the suicide bomber.
