The rocks and hills in Nigeria can serve as tourists’ sites and generate income, if properly harnessed, the senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, said in Zaria.Sani spoke when he visited the famous Kufena Mountain, as part of his preparation to sponsor a bill intended to transform the mountain into a tourist centre, not a place to “jump and fall.”He said he was in Zaria to climb the Kufena Mountain and interact with the people residing at the precinct of the mountain in order to appreciate their problems and obtain, firsthand, history and potentials of the mountain.“We climbed the mountain in order to see how wecan use it for economic gains, not to fall and die,” he said.“We feel that this mountain, and others like it, can generate income for Nigeria as they have the potentials of attracting tourists and other beneficial activities.Apparently taking aim at Governor Nasir el-Rufa’i of Kaduna State who reportedly said that anyone not satisfied with his appointments could go and “climb the Kufena Mountain, jump and fall,” Sani added: “So, instead of the call made by a governor urging those opposing his policies to climb Kufena Mountain and fall, we are here to see how we can change the fortunes of this historic site.”The governor allegedly made the call On October 17, 2015, during a town hall meeting with stakeholders from Kaduna Central, the senator’s district, but he has since said he was misrepresented. He said he was trying to make it known that thosewho felt happy with his appointments could climbthe Kufena Hills and jump.
