Bauchi State Government in Collaboration With the UNICEF and NPC Launch Birth Registration Exercise

His Excellency, Governor Mohammed A. Abubakar on Thursday inaugurated the Under 5 Children Registration Exercise in Bauchi State.
During the inauguration which took place at the Banquet Hall of Bauchi State Government House, the Governor commended the EU and UNICEF for their intervention.
Governor M.A reiterated the state government’s commitment to key up to the campaign on massive birth registration to enable it catch up with other states.
He, therefore, directed the state Ministry of Health and other state agencies to key into the exercise, to enable the state realise its objectives.

He further said that the exercise will also help in providing an accurate data for ‎proper policies planning by the state and federal governments in the areas of health, education and provision of social amenities.
The Governor therefore called on traditional and religious leaders to support the exercise to enable it succeed. He also called on all parents, caregivers, as well as opinion leaders to cooperate with the registrars that will go from house to house in the next ten days from 6th to 16th July, 2017 during the campaign period to register all children under 5 years.
In his address, the NPC Federal Commissioner Alh. Hassan Bashir commended the Bauchi State governme‎nt under Governor Mohammed A Abubakar for providing office accommodation for the commission to carry out the exercise.
The Federal Commissioner also took his time to explain the importance of the exercise stating that the essence of the campaign was to address the low level of birth registration of children between 0 to five years in the state. He also highlighted that the exercise will help in providing an accurate data for  ‎proper policies planning by the state and federal governments in the areas of health, education and provision of social amenities.
