PMB Flags Off Abuja-Kaduna Rail Transport Tomorrow

President Muhammadu  Buhari will tomorrow, flag off the newly completed Abuja (ldu) -Kaduna ( Rigasa) train service for commercial operation. The Abuja – Kaduna Train Service, which was started by the Goodluck Jonathan administration, according to director of press, Ministry of Transport, Yetunde Sonaike,  is part of the on-going efforts and commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to provide modern, safe and affordable means of transportation in the country and will serve as a vehicle for delivering sustainable socio – economic development, social harmony and political stability. She further revealed that the event which will take off by 10.00am at the Idu Railway Terminal will be attended by important dignitaries  in the society including state governors, captains of industry, and stakeholders in the transportation sector.
The Nigerian  Railway Corporation has been test running the Train Service  by moving people free of charge from Abuja to Kaduna and back since 15th of June 2016.The minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has hinted that the federal government would fix the cost of travelling on the newly completed Abuja to Kaduna rail lines at N500 per passenger per trip on the economy class. He had also said the test run exercise has been on for more than a month with passengers being moved from Kaduna to Abuja free of charge.
