BUK graduates 3124 postgraduate students



Bayero University Kano has graduated 3124 candidates pursuing higher degrees and diplomas in various courses of the institution.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Mahammad Yahuza Bello,  who stated at the 33rd convocation ceremony of  the university, said 65 of the graduands were awarded with PhD degrees, 1,885 bagged  master’s degrees in various academic fields while 1,174 graduated with  post graduate diplomas.
Honorary doctorate degrees were also conferred on two  eminent personalities, Khalifa Shiekh Isyaka Rabi’u and a Chinese industrialist Mr. Man Loong Lee respectively.
The Vice Chancellor said the University management reached the decision to award the honorary degrees for the first time after two years in respect of the pivotal roles the awardees had played in the development of Kano state and the nation at large.
He described the awards as well deserved.

While Khalifa Sheikh Isyaka Rabi’u was conferred with honorary Doctor of Letters for his philanthropy and contribution to Qur’anic recitation and growth of Islam, Man Loong Lee  was honoured with Doctor of Business Administration in recognition of his contribution to industrial growth and economic development of Kano state and Nigeria in general.
Professor Bello while thanking the Kano state government for numerous supports to the institution, called on the graduands to justify the confidence reposed on them by the institution.
Some of the graduands who spoke to our reporter expressed appreciation  to the University management for ensuring that they finish their  studies at the right time.
