Kano
state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Sunday, flagged off
construction of 2 kilometer Bichi township road in Bichi local
government area, at the cost of N200m.
The governor also flagged of water reticulation system project in the town which would cost government N137m.
The
first project entails renovation and asphalting of the road, provision
of streetlights and drainages while the water project consist of pipe
laying from Watari water treatment plant to Bichi town and provision of
two over head tanks.
Speaking
during the flagging off of the projects, Ganduje said government
embarked on the two projects because of the strategic importance of
Bichi local government.
“We
are not unaware of the plight of people in this very historic town and
the support you have been giving to our administration. We are
determined to improve your living condition,” he said.
He
pointed out that over 400 boreholes have been drilled under the first
phase of the rural water supply initiative while the drilling of 789
boreholes under the second phase has commenced recently.
In
a related development, the governor has flagged off construction of the
12 kilometer Saye – Babban Gida – Ganduje road project cutting across
Bichi and Dawakin tofa local government areas respectively.
The project is expected to gulp about N150m
