The governor disclosed this on Wednesday, in Lafia the State capital, shortly after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with a Chinese company BEIDOU, who were in the state to set up a fertilizer blending plant.
Speaking after the signing of the MoU, Governor Al-makura said that the gesture was a deliberate attempt by his administration to promote agriculture in the state.
He explained that, the choice of BEIDOU Company was made during his expository visit to the company during the Governors Forum’s visit to China, considering professional expertise and capacity of the company in agricultural technology.
The governor explained that the state would be a proud owner of a fertilizer blending plant which would produce assorted types of fertilizer that is suitable for the soil chemistry of the state.
Al-makura said that when finally installed, the fertilizer blending plant would have the capacity of producing 30-40 tons of fertilizers per hour, explaining that the overall objective was to boost crop production in the state.
The governor, however, said that the state is expecting the arrival of the blending machines within the next 45 days to enable the company commence full operation.
Earlier in her remark, president of BEIDOU Company, Mrs Jin Chuan assured that her company has both professional and technical expertise and the capacity to deliver on the job.
She assured that the state would experience increase in agricultural yields and a boost in crop production, when production of fertilizers for its farmers begin in the state.
