PRESIDENT of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday, stated that all Senators and legislators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria must be able to visit their constituents.
Speaking at the Senate Plenary on the cancellation of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso’s recent trip to Kano due to security concerns, the Senate President said:
“Kwankwaso's silence on this issue shows that there is a problem. If we see that the issue cannot be settled in the state then it will be brought to the Senate.
“Security must be provided for him because I don't see any reason why he can't travel to his constituency.”
The Senate President further directed the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police to see that security is provided for Senator Kwankwanso to visit his constituency, as it was not acceptable that a Senator could not visit his state because police could not provide security.
