International Day of the Girl-Child: Gov Jibrilla Bindow promises better policies

The governor of Adamawa state, Sen Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, has restated his adminstration's commitment to empower the girl child with the skills that can adequately prepare them to face their challenges.

A statement signed by the SA Media to the governor, Macauley Hunohashi, says Sen Jibrilla Bindow is not unaware of the plight of the girl child especially in times of conflict.

"I am aware of the need to empower the girl child with quality education and information that is the reason why my administration found  it expedient to declare a state of emergency in the education sector", Sen Jibrilla Bindow said.

He noted that the state government will continue to explore creative ways of partnering relevant agencies to tackle myriad challenges confronting the girl child in Adamawa state.

Sen Jibrilla Bindow commended the effort of president Muhammadu Buhari in securing the release of the abducted Chibok girls, reassuring Nigerians that the federal government is not relenting in the effort to reunite those still in captivity with their families.

International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated annually on Oct 11th, to highlight issues concerning the gender inequality facing young girls.

This year's theme is: "The power of the Adolecent Girl: Vision 2030".
