Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, Wednesday inaugurated
the chairmen of boards and commissions of agencies and departments in the
state, saying his administration will not allow chief executives to run
establishments as personal estates.
Speaking
shortly after inaugurating the chairmen in Sokoto, Tambuwal, who maintained
that the state government would not fold its arms and allow a few people
mismanage government agencies, emphasised that the essence of selecting men of
integrity and experience to manage the boards was to guard against executive
recklessness.
The governor, who pointed out that the appointment of the
members of the boards was based on merit and antecedents, expressed optimism
that those selected would work assiduously towards the attainment of the
desired goals.
“One of the
cardinal principles of this administration is inclusiveness and those selected
are personalities of political clout who will be relied on in managing the
various agencies. They are personalities with great wealth of experience that
will ensure that government policies and programmes are implemented in public
interest.
“I have no
doubt that those appointed will use their education and experience to ensure
that government establishments are repositioned for optimum results,” he said.
