The governor also made a personal donation of one million naira.
In a brief goodwill message at the ceremony in Potiskum Town today, the governor urged individuals and corporate organisations to donate generously to a noble cause for the sake of Allah (SWT).
Drawing from a verse of the Holy Qur'an and a Hadith of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Governor Gaidam said building a mosque or supporting the building of one is a praiseworthy service in Islam. "Whoever builds a mosque or helps in building a mosque will be rewarded by the Almighty Allah with a befitting abode in paradise", the governor cited the Hadith as saying.
Officials of the Yobe State Government, members of national and state assemblies, etc. were among those who contributed to the fund, which netted over N260 million so far.
