Wives of Nigerian Northern
Governors have held their quarterly meeting in Yankari, Bauchi state.
They were welcomed with a
short opening session which had His Excellency Governor MA Abubakar in
attendance.
The ladies
immediately went into a closed meeting during which a new exco was elected and
wife of Bauchi state Governor H.E. Haj Hadiza Abubakar emerged the new
Chairperson. Other issues discussed include updates and next steps on the
ongoing program against Drug Abuse, advocacy on Immunization rounds going on
nationally, completing legal framework and constitution of the forum and
furnishing the

The meeting
was followed by a guided tour of the Yankari Games Reserve and a gala night.
On the
second day, the First Ladies paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji
(Dr.) Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu. The Chairperson Haj Hadiza Abubakar solicited
his support and that of other traditional rulers in the war against substance
abuse embarked upon by the forum. Prior to this, the mothers had spent the
