.. Borno State Government to employ more medical doctors
The Borno State Government is to employ additional medical doctors to enhance healthcare delivery in the State. The doctors will form part of the three hundred youths to be employed soon in the sustained effort to create jobs for the teeming youths in the state.
Governor Kashim Shettima stated this when he inspected the ongoing reconstruction and remodeling of the General Hospital and Leprosy Centre, Molai, located 10 kilometres away from Maiduguri.
Molai Leprosy Centre was constructed by the missionaries in 1938 to attend to Leprosy related cases.
The Centre was later converted to a General Hospital to attend to health needs of the community and surroundings, commissioned by Princess Diana and Prince Charles in 1990.
Governor Kashim Shettima was received and briefed on arrival by the Chief Medical Director of Borno State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Salihu Kwaya Bura.
Structures inspected by the Governor at the Hospital include; General Outpatient Department, Administration Block, Maternity & General Ward, Stabilisation Centre for Malnourished Children, Radiology & Leprosy Ward among others.
Governor Shettima during the visit also Interacted with the leprosy patents, including one Audu Abdullah who has been in the hospital for over ten years with no relation to support him.
The Governor sought to know from him how he could be assisted, with the option of settling him in Maiduguri or his home state.

The Governor presented bags of rice, jerrycans of vegetable oil, spaghetti and other assorted food items with a call on the Molai community to be security conscious at all times, send their wards to school and get their permanent voter cards (PVCs).
