The Kebbi State Government says it will create Ministry of Religious Affairs to regulate religion matters in the state. Gov. Atiku Bagudu, gave this indication while receiving members of Izala religious group, who were on a courtesy visit, in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
The governor, who was responding to the request by the Izala to that effect, described issues of religion as sensitive and a high importance that required careful approach and handling. He said his administration had accorded religion high premium in view of its potency in character moulding and instilling moral virtues into adherents.
Bagudu also commended the group for striving to strengthen the fear of God through worship among the populace. Earlier, the state Chairman of Izala movement, Alhaji Aliyu Jega, advised leaders at all levels to govern their people with justice, fairness and compassion. He acknowledged the tremendous material and financial assistance rendered to the group by the governor.
