1m, including Christian cleric, commence Shi'a Arba’een symbolic trek in Kaduna

About one million persons on Monday commenced the trek by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria from Kaduna in Kaduna State to Husainiyya Baqiyyatullah, Zaria, also in Kaduna State for Yaumul Arba’een.
The trek, which started from Kano State last week, was disrupted by the Boko Haram sect, which suicide bomber detonated an Improvised Explosive Device among the pilgrims, killing 24 of them.
According to the Media Team Leader of the 2015 Arbaeen Symbolic Trek, Ibrahim Usman, the trek from Kaduna to Zaria is about 75km.
It kicked off from Laying Kosai Tundun Wada Kaduna, the city heart of Kaduna, passed through Ibrahim Taiwo Road to Dutsinma Street and finally to Nmandi Azikwe Way on the Kaduna Expressway to Zaria.
Usman said the leading Scholar of the trek and Ameer of the zone, Sheikh Muhammad Mukhtar Sahabi, addressed the trekkers and newsmen on the reason for the trek to Husainiyya.
Sahabi also sensitized the trekkers on the continuous construction of Husainiyya Baqiyyatulla and called for donation to the approved boxes provided while the trek is going on.
Among those who joined the trek on Monday was Pastor Yohanna Buru of the Evangelical Church, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna.
Usman added in a statement on Monday: “The trek troop comprises brothers and sisters from various sub-zones among which include: Kaduna, Abuja, Suleja, Minna, Udawa, Ayimba, Kogi, Lokoja, Lagos, Mararrabar Jos, Kafanchan and so on.”
The Islamic movement in Nigeria is led by Sheikh Ibraheem El Zakzaky.
