Army Kills 4 Suspected Rustlers In Katsina

No fewer than four suspected cattle rustlers have been killed by men of the Nigerian Army during an operation to flush out cattle rustlers at the notorious Rugu Forest in Safana LG of Katsina state.
The Commanding Officer of Nigeria Army’s 35 Battalion in Katsina, Lt Col. Alhassan Girema who disclosed this to newsmen said the rustlers were killed during a raid conducted by the army.
He said five other suspected cattle rustlers had also been arrested during the operation and noted that the army recovered over 500 cattle which had been handed over to the Katsina state’s standing committee on Farmers/ Herdsmen Clash for onward distribution to owners.

The Rugu forest which cut across the states of Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna and Niger is famous for being hide out of cattle rustlers who are continually making life unbearable to herdsmen in some part of these states.
Disturbed by the persistence of cattle theft and rape along the areas covered by the Rugu forest, the Katsina state government put in place special security operation to help flush out those behind the act believed to be hiding in the forest.
