The Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II has expressed
worry over the non-release of the report of the investigative committee
set up by the Kano state government on the apparent sexual assault on
male students of the Hassan Gwarzo Secondary School, describing the
action as ungodly.
The Emir repeated the call while receiving the chairperson of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) Hajiya Saliha Musa Muhammad Katsina, who paid him a courtesy visit at his Palace.
Malam Sanusi II who almost broke palace protocol by speaking extensively on the issue, frowned at the attitude of the state government for unnecessary foot dragging the release of the report, lamenting that it is not doing any good for the educational development of the state, adding that injustice have no place in his domain.
He said that, even if the government is shielding any person under the disguise of the yet-to-be released report by the Committee, the School Principal, Security guards and all those entrusted with the safety of the students’ at the School must be punished according to Islamic Injunctions, adding that there must be a culprit in the case.
A child was on admission at one of our hospital and in a very pathetic condition as a result of the sexual assault on him and yet, the report appears not to be coming from the Government, says the Emir.
The Emir who commended the Police Officers Wives Association for the visit, urged them not to relent in their efforts of ridding our communities with societal ills that are bedeviling the polity, assuring them of his support and assistance at all times.
Earlier, the chairperson of the Association who is also the wife of the State Police Commissioner, Hajiya Saliha Musa Muhammad Katsina, said that they were at the Palace to intimate the Royal Father of their mission of fighting the menace of rape, Girl-child education and other problems associated with adolescents in the State and seek his blessings.
