Shiite: Emir of Kano Tasks Religious Organisations on Peaceful Coexistence



The Emir of Kano,  Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, has described the incident at Zaria as very unfortunate.

He stressed the need for all Nigerians irrespective of their religious or political inclinations to desist from anything which could breach the peace.



Speaking on Monday while receiving some members of Shi’ite who visited him at his palace in Kano,  Sanusi II said the advice is necessary especially now that the country is fighting insurgency.

The Emir also advised religious and other organisations against acts capable of formenting trouble in the country.

He called on the people to always exercise restrain in order to ensure peace and unity in the country.

Sanusi prayed God to grant eternal rest to all those who lost their lives during the incident and the injured speedy recovery.

He also played God to prevent future occurrence and urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the sustenance of peace in the country.

Earlier, the representative of the Shiite in Kano,  Alhaji Aliyu Babba had called on the Emir to intervene in order to ensure the immediate release of their leader,  Sheikh Ibrahim El-zakzaky.
