EFCC expects ex-defence chief Badeh, others this week

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is expecting former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh together with other senior officers yet to honour investigation invitations to do so this week.
Daily Trust gathered yesterday that Badeh, together with some serving and retired military officers indicted in a Presidential committee audit report, probing procurement of military equipment under former President Goodluck Jonathan will appear before the EFCC this week.

The EFCC ‎is still holding in its detention facilities the former Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Adesola Amosu arrested last Wednesday.
EFCC sources also hinted that more military officers indicted by the Presidential committee report have been showing up at the EFCC headquarters to explain allegations leveled against them.‎
It was learnt that a top military officer being investigated in the $2.1 billion arms procurement scam was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, while attempting to flee from the country Saturday night.
Although, Daily Trust could not independently identify the officer involved, he is said to have been arrested and in detention at the EFCC headquarters.
An EFCC source stated that all indicted military officers who received invitations are expected to appear this week, noting that all those being investigated have been placed under watch.
President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the probe of how $2.1 billion was spent in the name of arms purchase during the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan, a period which covers the appointment of over five Service chiefs.
An interim audit report by a Presidential probe panel had recommended further investigation of some serving and retired military officers over their alleged involvement in the arms procurement fraud.
President Buhari had directed the EFCC to carry out further investigations into the “misconduct” established against some retired and serving military officers.
