Kano approves N578m for promoted teachers

The Kano State Government has approved N578, 565, 178.51 for the payment of 44, 654 primary school teachers and non-teaching personnel under the State Universal Basic Education Board who received promotion in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
The State Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, stated this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the weekly State Executive Council meeting, saying the council, chaired by the state Deputy Governor, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, approved the payment from June 2017,
following negotiations with the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT).
He said however that in view of the financial situation of the state government, it was unanimously agreed that the workers would forfeit their arrears.
