The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji
Yahaya Bello, has sacked the Chairperson State Universal Basic Education Board
(SUBEB) Mrs Deborah Oshatinmehin over alleged gross misconduct.
She
has been replaced by Suleiman Nadaleye Abdullahi.
Sources from the Kogi State
Government House told DAILY POST on Wednesday that the sack of the SUBEB boss
became necessary when it was alleged that she got herself involved in some illegal
contract which never went well with those at the top.
But
the media aide to the SUBEB Chairperson Sunday Baiye Asheda in a telephone
interview with our correspondent said the allegations were false and unfounded,
pointing out that the Governor thought it wise for his boss to share her wealth
of experience in other areas that will help achieve the aim of the present new
direction agenda.
His
words: “I laughed in pidgin when I heard that my boss Mrs Oshetinmehin was
sacked. She was never sacked but redeployed. She never got her self involved in
any illegal deals, so such allegation or information is from the pit of hell.”
As
part of measures not to put her off from the present administration’s circle,
Mrs Oshatimehin has been redeployed to assume duty as Special Adviser to the
Governor on Senior Citizens, the elderly and primary school teachers’ retirees.
Meanwhile, in another cabinet
reshuffle by the Governor, Mrs Hajia Aisha Abu Ali, Chairman Hotels and Tourism
is to assume duty as Senior Special Assistant on civil society and Non
Governmental Organization.
Mrs
Comfort Alfred BIM was also appointed as the new Chairperson Kogi Hotels and
Tourism Board.
The
appointment and redeployment are to take effect from 2nd January 2018.
