Gov Masari Revokes Sale of 3 Houses Sold by Shema

Following the recommendations of the committee inaugurated by Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina to examine the sales of some property belonging to the state government in Kaduna and Abuja, the state executive council has revoked the sales of three of the houses.

Two of the affected property are in Kaduna while one is in Abuja, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Salisu Gambo Dandume, said.

Briefing newsmen in Katsina on the outcome of the fifth regular meeting of the council, the commissioner however declined further details of the transactions under the stewardship of former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shehu Shema.

“Details of the buyers and cost will come subsequently during further briefings,” he reasoned.

The commissioner also revealed that the executive council had extended the services of about 1080 graduates of National Teachers Institute (NTI) Kaduna as pivotal teachers until 2017 across Katsina State.

The secondary school leavers undergoing teacher training programme which ended last December were given the chance to extend their services in view of the short supply of primary school teachers in the state.

“After that period, they are supposed to go for further training, that is NCE, but we are in short supply and this is a sort of emergency, Prof. Sa’adiya Idris, Commissioner for Education, added at the briefing.

According to her, the pivotal teacher training programme ended after 18 months but the teachers would be given some allowance by the state and supervised by the ministry of education for additional year.
