Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State this Sunday condoled with the people of Bagudo and Koko on the road accident which occurred last Thursday along Tsamiya-Ka’oje-Bagudo road that caused the death of several people while many other sustained injury.
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu expressed deep sympathy to the people of Koko and Bagudo on the lost of lives and wished those on admission at Bagudo General Hospital quick recovery.
At the palace of the Bahindin Bagudo, the Governor prayed Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and the injured person quick recovery.
He warned road users to be careful while driving on high ways and avoid overloading.
He requested the federal road safety commission, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Traditional Rulers Police and other stakeholders to always strictly monitor overloading by motorists and warned against transporting people, goods and animals together in one vehicle.
The Governor who was accompanied on the visit by the former Governor and incumbent Senator Representing Kebbi Central, Senator Muhammadu Adamu Aliero former Governor of Jigawa Sate Ibrahim Saminu Turaki and a member of House of Representatives representing Koko/Maiyama Federal Constituency, Hon. Salisu Garba Koko visited the palace of the Bahindin Bagudo, palace of the District Head of Koko, Alhaji Salihu Koko, as well as Koko and Bagudo General Hospitals.
At the palace of the Bahindi Bagudu the Governor said the Kebbi State Government has acknowledged the role played by the
people of Bagudo Local Government on the Anchor Borrowers Programme which resulted to massive food production.
He commended that participation of traditional rulers in the area as well as the support towards ensuring Fulani/Farmers dispute was rendered to barest minimum.
He said the state government has succeeded to brought electricity to Bagudo, to improve power supply while Ka’oje line would soon be connected, the state government has approved the sum of 28 Million Naira for the purchased of Armor Cable for use under the bridge.
Senator Atiku Bagudu also told the people of Koko that the state government has purchased several electricity transformers of which Koko town would be a beneficiary to improve powers supply. He called on those in the rural areas and urban towns to report any electrical problem or fault for immediate attention.
The Magajin Zagga, Alhaji Abubamar Mainasara Zagga, who spoked on behalf of the District Head of Bagudo expressed the gratitude to the Governor and his high powered delegation for the condolence visit.
The District Heads thanked the State Government for its immediate assistance to the victims and families of the deceased which has helped to ease the difficulty of their relatives.
More than fourteen people died in the accident at Koko and Bagudo General Hospital, while one other died at University Teaching Sokoto, of the three persons referred to the hospital, the 38 people who sustained injuries have been hospitalized.
The Principal Medical Officer of Bagudo Dr. Ola Olawoyin and that of Koko, Dr. Kola Onartide told the Governor that, those on admission at Bagudo hospital were six while 32 were in Koko hospital.
The Governor provided immediate financial assistance to the families of the deceased of one hundred thousand naira while those who were on admission were given fifty thousand each, and pledging to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) assistance soon.
