Shema, others to account for N56bn – C’ttee

The Katsina State Commission of Enquiry has established that a former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shema and other top government officials are responsible for the loss of N55.9billion belonging to the state government.
Presenting an interim report to the state government yesterday, the chairman of the committee, Barrister Ado Maaji, recommended that all those involved should be called to refund and be prosecuted in accordance with the law to serve as deterrent to others.
In his remarks, Governor Aminu Masari said government would table the report before the State Executive Council for appropriate action, adding that the amount would not be swept under the carpet. He said with such money, Katsina could be developed to an enviable position, adding that it was unfortunate that his predecessors wasted to make the state great.
