3rd Kannywood Awards Holds March 12, To Celebrate Industry At 25

The 3rd Kannywood Awards which is geared towards celebrating and honouring key players in the Kannywood industry hitherto slated to hold this Saturday, 30th January, has been shifted.

In a press conference by the president/ CEO of Kannywood Awards, Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Sarari, and made available in Abuja, the statement said the new date will be March 12 of this year.

Giving reasons as to why the event was rescheduled, Dr. Sarari said that the earlier date clashed with an event of national importance in Abuja which most key dignitaries that indicated interest, will have to attend.

“Considering the magnitude of the award ceremony which, beyond giving awards to deserving key players in the industry, well-meaning Nigerians like the Wife of the President, Haj. Aisha Buhari, Ministers and captains of industries will be honoured at the event for their immense contributions to nation building.

“you will agree with me that this is not an event to miss and this avenue will also give us the opportunity to celebrate and take stock as the industry turns 25” he said.

Sarari also stated that as part of events slated for the ceremony, there will be discussions on modalities to get partners/sponsors for the Kano Film Academy as well as matriculate 100 pioneer students into the Academy.

Speaking further, Secretary of the Organising Committee, Alh. Salisu Muhammed (officer) expressed optimism that the event will make history adding that the former date for the awards will now be the date for the nominee dinner to be held in Kaduna.
